An unconventional look back on the most impressionable K-Pop (or Hallyu-related) events that took place in Singapore this year
Thanks to a worldwide phenomenon prettily packaged as the Hallyu wave (or ahem, K-Pop invasion), Korean stars come and go on this little red dot more often than your regular tourists from Hong Kong or China. Every month we see at least one, or two, and sometimes even three and more K-Pop gigs happening over the weekends - so much so that by now we have become insulated by their regular visits and no longer fuss over these previously once-in-a-blue-moon sacred visits (unless it’s one made by the heavenly being that is Lee Min Ho, of course).
To offer a little twist from the usual recap on bang-for-your-buck Korean events – fan meets, showcases and full-scale gigs – this year, we will do you a big favour and refrain from reminding you of the costly (and unworthy) ones that left a dent in your bank balance. Here’s an alternative take on the most impressionable Korean-something events to have hit Singapore this year – from a media person’s perspective.
