What’s better than a dunk tank? Watching celebrities voluntarily dunk ice on themselves of course

Andy Lau has done it. Bill Gates has (out) done it. And almost all Hollywood celebrities in Tinstletown (from Justin Bieber to Oprah Winfrey) are on the #ALSicebucketchallenge bandwagon. For the past few days, you’d have noticed an inordinate amount (more coming!) of posts and videos featuring celebrities dunking bucket(s) of iced water on themselves - voluntarily. All done in the name of a good cause.

A viral social media campaign started by Pete Frates, this aims to raise awareness and funds to fight the good fight against ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. It first began in the states and has since caught on in Asia – thanks to the brazen nomination of Andy Lau (by Xiaomi’s CEO) and K-pop hottie Choi Siwon (by Korean-American singer Tim), who have in turn passed on the baton to fellow showbiz heavyweights and Korean idols like Jay Chou and Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk.

We see no end to the #ALSicebucketchallenge. Even our local celebs such as Rebecca Lim and Ian Fang and radio DJs such as The Muttons and the Class 95 crew are on it too, including a very daring George Young, who nominated Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to take on the challenge (it didn't work out, sadly).

Starting with the Korean celebs, we recap some of the best (and most ridiculous) celebrity reactions to this campaign - from the abs to the biceps and even the fake ice bucket fails. #YoureWelcome

For those not in the know, the #ALSicebucketchallenge allows people who have done the challenge to nominate friends or personalities to step up to the challenge for a good cause. These "challenged" folks have 24 hours to react and follow suit, OR donate a sum to the ALS association. While there isn't a ALS association in Singapore, local celebs who have accomplished the challenge have continued the good deed in name and donated to various charitable organisations of their choice.
