Rejoice, ELFs. The “Space Big Star” is back!
Super Junior’s Kim Heechul, or more affectionately known as Heenim, has officially been discharged from his two-year mandatory military service this morning (Aug 30).
The 30-year-old, who enlisted in September 2011 as a public service worker at the Seodong district office, was awarded for his exemplary service upon his discharge.
Although the well-loved idol did not offer any speech after stepping out of the office, he expressed his gratitude for the 150 fans and reporters, who have gathered to celebrate his return, with bright smiles and waves.
A representative from SM Entertainment said, “Heechul has received several offers from variety programs and dramas. He will consider these offers thoroughly, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
It was also revealed that the Super Junior member will be actively practising before his official comeback on stage. “He will be joining the group on their world tour after training and conditioning. However, the exact time and date has yet to be undecided,” the representative added.
Last night, Heechul (@kimheenim) announced his return with his very first Instagram post of a “Heenim steam bun” with the caption: “D-Day”.
Not that the fans are complaining, the quirky idol flooded their feeds with a series of posts this morning, clearly displaying his happiness at the completion of his service. In return, ELFs trended hash tags such #WelcomeBackHeenim, #HeechulIsBack and #spacebigstarcomeback on various social media platforms.
Welcome back, Heenim. We can’t wait to see you reunite with the boys on stage!
