With no less than 10 dramas airing concurrently at any one time, competition in the Korean drama industry is incredibly heated. With ratings being one of the most important factors that count towards the success of the drama, producers know that they have to be at the top of their games to capture and maintain the attention of viewers.
Gone are the days when a stellar cast and captivating storyline would equate to instant drama-land success. In this cut-throat industry, producers and scriptwriters have picked up a few tricks of their own; tongue-in-cheek ways – albeit cliché – to keep viewers tuning in week after week.
