Hot, brooding male lead

What’s the fun in a squeaky clean, perfect-in-every-way male lead? A slightly flawed, grumpy alpha male who, with time, morphs into a flowers-and-hearts romantic with an edge has much greater appeal. Naturally, he has to be drop-dead gorgeous.

One of the classic examples is the character Gu Jun Pyo in Boys over Flowers. Dubious curly hair aside, actor Lee Min Ho has got it all – the looks, height, fortune and the warm and fuzzy personality that’s masked by his prickly exterior.

Heroine Geum Jan Di (Gu Hye Sun) is the one who slowly peels off the spiky layers to discover the goodness inside. Not only does it fulfill the I-can-be-the-one-to-make-him-change fantasy that many a female has, it also leads to hilarious hijinks and swoon-worthy moments.
