Psy knows language of loneliness

Despite the galloping popularity of “Gangnam Style,” which surpassed a billion YouTube views on Saturday, Psy says he sometimes feels lonely trying to live up to his new billing as a worldwide star.

The 34-year-old comic Korean singer revealed his inner side on MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” on Saturday.

“In fact, I am lonely, too, really,” Psy told No Hong-chul in response to No’s remark that many lonely Koreans living overseas appreciate the growing interest in Korean culture due to Psy’s popularity.

Psy, who studied at Berkeley College of Music in Boston, confessed he still feels “lost in translation” when conversing in English.

“It is difficult to work in English and it is difficult to have to speak in English after work,” he said. “I want to make people laugh, but it often does not work as I intended. If I am drunk, I find myself speaking Korean.”

But, he tried to end the interview on a positive note, saying, “I don’t know other things, but I am doing a single song for over five months. Sooner or later, I think I could be turned into a horse.”
