The two main leads of the Korean drama series shared insights on their first leading roles and revealed their aspirations for the new year

Seo In Guk: When I was young, I was fearless and thought the whole world was mine

The story timeline in Reply 1997 shuffles between the 90s and the present. When asked on his best memories of the past decade, In Guk commented that he was "so young back then".

"I had a secret hideaway with my friends and I miss the times when we could just run around and play," said the 25-year-old as he reminisced on his adolescent days.

While In Guk portrays a teenage boy who faces unrequited love with his childhood best friend in the drama, he shared that his real life experiences are just as futile. "If I started a one-sided love, the other person would always end up going away."

Opening up on his past struggles with bulimia, which resulted from being repeatedly rejected and told to lose weight during auditions, In Guk shared that he was "disappointed with himself" back then.

The Korean chap confessed that he was actually overweight when he went for Superstar K's audition and gained renewed confidence in himself after winning the competition.

Now that he has found his calling in acting, In Guk aspires to improve himself as a singer and an actor, and is "very grateful for the support from fans and seniors (in the industry)" who have helped him along the way.

Fans of the singer-actor should keep their eyes on In Guk as he revealed that he is currently working hard at showing off a "better image" in future.
