You didn’t hear us wrong when we said Singaporean-Korean girl group. That’s right, Singapore is now officially part of the Korean wave with two out of four SKarf’s members, Tasha and Ferlyn, born and bred on this little red dot.

The two girls packed their bags to pursue their idol dreams more than a year ago. They returned - looking every bit like a well-groomed and trained Korean girl group – yesterday at their first official media event in Singapore and showed everyone that their hard work and sacrifices were not in vain.

Greeting a vocal crowd of 300-strong fans at their open press conference, members Ferlyn, Sol, Tasha and Jenny, also had their first public performance and fan-sign session at Bugis+. The organizers sprung a birthday surprise on Tasha, the group leader, who turns 19 on Oct 11, mid-way through the event.

Standing next to her family members who came bearing presents and cake, Tasha, with tears welling in her eyes, thanked everyone for the nice surprise. In an interview with xinmsn prior to the event, the two Singaporean members shared that they barely have time to get together with loved ones on this work-trip.

“The biggest change [to my life] is that this is the first time being in Singapore and not being able to go out.  I’m stuck in the hotel.” said Ferlyn with a slight chuckle. One month into their debut, the girls had a full schedule lined up for them -- even on Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving holiday) which took place last Monday.  They will also be plunging into work the moment they set foot in Korea today.
