A desolate existence flooded with gloom. Grey, the imposing tone.
Then a beacon of colour arrives. It multiplies into nine. Then flowers. And more colours.
And Girls’ Generation become saviours of Mother Earth, bringing with them peace – albeit a rather loose interpretation of the word.
That seemed like the context of the Korean supergroup’s Girls & Peace world tour, which made its Singapore stop last night. It surely was the theme of the opening, although a concertgoer would be hard pressed to find any further reference to it as the night went on.
Not like it mattered to the 8,000 SONEs at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, many of whom were shouting (as opposed to screaming) men whose own existence must have been saved by the love, flowers and peace that Girls’ Generation bestowed.
