Istanbul

Istanbul's Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque were well-placed in Skyfall, the third James Bond movie to feature the Turkish city, after From Russia With Love and The World Is Not Enough. It's also the first one to be shot in mainland China, with 007 landing in Shanghai.

There's no lack of exotic locations for the martini-loving spy ever since Dr No, which was partly filmed in Kingston, Jamaica. The Greek island of Corfu became an instant calling card for 007 fans when Roger Moore was seen there in For Your Eyes Only, and the casino scene from the movie was shot in The Achillion Palace. Thailand's Khao Phing Kan, near Phuket, has been affectionately called James Bond Island ever since 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun.

Back in the United Kingdom, Visit Britain has hired 007 to give his home base a boost this year. An ad featuring the tagline "Bond is GREAT Britain" was created featuring the different James Bonds through the ages, against different picturesque locations of Britain, such as the Scottish highlands as beautifully rendered by Sam Mendes in Skyfall, and the real headquarters of MI6 - the SIS building seen in GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough.
