Il Volo – We Are Love

The Italian popera trio serenade us with another amazing album

The album kicks off with a dramatic and yet familiar orchestral opening. Gianluca begins the first verse followed by Ignazio and if you haven’t figured out what song it is yet, you would once Piero comes in the chorus. ‘Questo Amore (I Don't Want To Miss a Thing)’, takes the tune from Aerosmith’s hit song and transforms it to an equally emotionally powerful song. The twist on the classic rock ballad to a classical piece is the perfect way to open the album.

Award-winning songwriter Dianne Warren (‘I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing’ & ‘There You’ll Be’) penned ‘I Bring You To My Senses’ for the trio has a much more pop feel. Il Volo once again brings across the song with a lot of emotion, serenading you with their vocals.

Just as the chorus goes, ‘Splendida’ is both splendid and incredible. The boys have excellent vocal capabilities that are powerful and yet well controlled. All three are equally as talented holding their own in the verses and marvelling even more when the voices harmonize.

The young trio even collaborate with renowned Grammy award-winning tenor, Plácido Domingo in ‘Il Canto’. While they all have amazing voices, Domingo steals the show with the depth and weight in his voice. Perhaps with more training and experience, Il Volo can one day match his vocals.

The album closes aptly with ‘Non Farmi Aspettare’ (translated as ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’). The trio certainly don’t sound their age but boy have they grown up into charming young men. Ending on an equally high note as they began, Il Divo should not make us wait too long to see more from them.
