Three-member Japanese girl group Perfume has been around for more than 10 years; following the release of their recent compilation Perfume Global Compilation “Love the World” -- the first album to be released outside of Japan -- Perfume is set to embark on their first global tour Perfume World Tour 1st.

Opening the compilation is the classic ‘Polyrhythm’, rightfully named so because of its polyrhythmic nature -- having two conflicting rhythms overlap each other in a single melody. The 2007 song, found on their highly successful second album GAME, is a catchy track which stays in your head because of the special melody and the girls’ sweet vocals.

On the other hand, follow-up track ‘Edge (Triangle mix)’ has a darker feel, with its use of heavy drum beats and over-the-top synthesizing. However, the track’s dramatic atmosphere seemed to have stolen the girls’ limelight and overpowered their singing.

Also included in this release is ‘Love the World’, which debuted at number one on Japan’s Oricon chart, making it the first electro-pop song from an electro-pop act to do so. Dance-pop ballad ‘Baby Cruising Love’ is especially refreshing, while the uplifting ‘Dream Fighter’ had us bopping along with the track in no time.

Perfume Global Compilation “Love the World” is a well-selected compilation, which will allow new fans to know Perfume better.

Come Nov 24, local fans of the girl group can look forward to Perfume singing these songs, as they will be holding their first concert in Singapore at *SCAPE.
