8th World Islamic Economic Forum opens

The 8th World Islamic Economic Forum opened this morning with a call to acknowledge the importance of youths and the opportunities they present.

That was the message by Malaysia's Prime Minister, Najib Razak, to several political leaders and over two thousand business leaders attending the three-day event.

Mr Najib stressed for the need to understand the challenges facing the youth and young Muslims across the world and the hidden wealth of young Islamic nations.

He urged nations to ensure that youths are employed because unemployment is toxic.

And when people lack opportunities, they grow reckless and disenfranchised.

Mr Najib said that the response of governments must be to commit to building open and sustainable economies, with education and economic reforms that allow young people to pursue their ambitions.
