ASEAN unity under threat over South China Sea
The Philippines and current ASEAN chair, Cambodia, have had disagreements over the way forward in dealing with the South China Sea dispute with China. Cambodia has said that ASEAN agreed not to internationalise the issue, a stance that is consistent with China's views.
But Philippine President Benigno Aquino said on Monday that no such consensus was reached.
