Australia bushfires rage in 'catastrophic' conditions
Bushfires have raged across Australia's most populous state of New South Wales.
The blazes were fanned by intense heat and high winds in "catastrophic" conditions that have put thousands of firefighters on high alert.
A total fire ban is in place throughout the state, while all national parks are closed.
Temperatures are forecast to peak at 45 degrees Celsius.
Emergency Minister in New South Wales, Michael Gallagher, says the situation is extreme.
There were also extreme conditions in Victoria.
Wildfires destroyed more than 100 homes in Tasmania over the weekend, and around 40 fires are still burning across the southern island state.
No deaths have been reported so far from the fires.
