Australia's first cyclone of season forms off western coast
A tropical cyclone is developing off Western Australia's north coast and could impact communities in the next few days.
The Australian news website said residents have been warned to prepare their homes and family for severe storms.
Tropical cyclone Narelle, now a category three storm with winds of up to 165 kilometres per hour, is expected to gather strength and possibly be upgraded to a category four cyclone by this afternoon.
The storm is moving southwest towards Australia's Pilbara coast, with winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour to be felt by tomorrow morning.
This could potentially cause disruptions to iron ore mining and oil production.
