Awakening the Dragon - Singapore's pottery heritage
The Guan Huat Dragon Kiln is one of two remaining traditional wood-fired dragon kilns in Singapore.
Named after it's elongated shape, the kiln was active in the early 1900s right through to the 1970s, churning out latex cups, pipes and other household items.
The kiln has been dormant for about 30 years now, only being fired up occasionally in small sections by a community of clay artists.
But in January 2013, the 'dragon' will come alive once more in 'Awaken the Dragon', Singapore's first ever ceramics festival.
938LIVE's Shireen Abdullah speaks with Michelle Lim and Woon Tien Wei, artists and producers of the festival.
