Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degree Celsius in western New South Wales this weekend.
The country's Bureau of Meteorology said there's a high to very high fire risk across most of the state.
The state's health authorities are urging people to be cautious during the impending heat wave to avoid heat-related illness.
Signs of heat-related illness include dizziness, confusion, vomiting and headaches.
The heat wave that affected Sydney in February last year caused 96 deaths.
