Indonesia anti-graft agency probes sports minister

Indonesia's anti-corruption agency has named the country's sports minister, Andi Malla-ran-geng, as a suspect in a multi-million-dollar graft case.

The Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK asked authorities to ban the sports minister from travelling as it probes the construction of the Hambalang sports centre built on the outskirts of the capital Jakarta.

The contracts to build the sports facility were worth US$261 million.

This is the latest scandal to hit President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democratic Party ahead of the 2014 elections.

The KPK has named several members of President Yudhoyono's party as suspects in various cases in the recent years.
