James Wong Set to Go for Gold Again
In local sport,
Veteran thrower James Wong is coming out of retirement in an attempt to win an 11th SEA Games gold medal.
The 44 year-old has 9 titles in the Discus event, with 1 more gold in the Hammer Throw in 1997.
James, who's the general manager of the Singapore Athletics Association, announced he was retiring some 15 months ago.
That was after the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia.
He's tied for the most number of gold medals in a single athletics event at a SEA Games.
But James will still need to meet the mark of 50.28 metres to qualify for the Myanmar Games this year, which is the bronze medal distance at the last event.
