Napoli Close Gap, Bayern Surge Ahead

In Italian football, 

Napoli beat Parma 2-1 to close the gap on Juventus at the top of the Serie A to 3 points. 

Marek Hamsik opened the scoring for the Naples side in the 20th minute. 

But defender Paolo Cannavaro scored an own goal to put the hosts level. 

And striker Edinson Cavani got his league-leading 18th goal to seal the win. 

With the victory, Napoli remain 2nd on 46 points, 3 behind Juve and 3 clear of Lazio, who were beaten 1-0 by Chievo. 

Meanwhile, 

AC Milan won 1-0 away to Atalanta. 

Stephan El Shaarawy's 1st-half winner gave Milan their 11th win of the season.

hat moves them up to 5th, 12 points behind leaders Juve. 

In other scores, 

Fiorentina were beaten 2-1 at Catania, while Inter Milan were held to a 2-all draw by Torino. 

Sampdoria thrashed Pescara 6-0, and Bologna drew 3-all with Roma.



Over in Germany,

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich pulled 11 points clear of their nearest title rivals with a 2-nil victory at VfB Stuttgart.

Mario Mandzukic scored 5 minutes after half-time and created the other for Thomas Mueller in the 72nd minute.

The victory was Bayern's15th win in 19 league games.

They now have 48 points, with 2nd-placed Bayer Leverkusen on 37.

Champions Borussia Dortmund are 3rd, a further point back.
