Due to an injury-affected season, the 23 year old made only 1 Premier League start for the Blues. 

And the England striker who watched the Sunderland game earlier today, could make his Reds debut against Manchester United next weekend.


Newcastle look set to lose Demba Ba after Chelsea triggered the release clause in his contract. 

The Senegalese striker has been given permission to speak to the Blues. 

And Magpies manager Alan Pardew expects the 27 year old to complete his move to Chelsea without any hitches.

Novak Djokovic's preparations for this month's Australian Open suffered a setback, when he lost to Bernard Tomic at the Hopman Cup mixed team event yesterday. 

In Perth, the world number one went down 6-4 6-4, as Australia took a 1-0 lead against Serbia. 

But Ana Ivanovic later defeated Australia's Ashleigh Barty in straight sets in the women's singles, to level the tie at 1-1. 

Ivanovic and Njokovic later teamed up to win the mixed doubles and led Serbia to a 2-1 victory over the Aussies.
