Shell to expand petrochemicals capacity in Singapore

Shell is raising its production capacity olefins and aromatics by more than 20 percent at its petro-chemicals complex in Singapore.

Olefins and aromatics are raw materials for textiles, detergents and plastics.

But the Dutch energy and petro-chemical group didn't say how much the expansion will cost.

Its Executive Vice President, Ben van Beurden says the investment will help Shell meet growing demand in the region.

He also says the expansion will further unlock value from the integration of its refinery and derivatives activities on Jurong Island.
