Singapore Dec inflation up 4.3%

Singapore's inflation rose 4.3 percent on-year in December.

That's higher than what most economists expected.

The increase was due to higher contribution in housing and transport costs.

But core inflation rate, which excludes transport and accommodation, slowed to 1.9 percent from the previous month.

The government expects inflation to remain high and come in at 3.5 to 4.5 percent for the whole of this year.

It says imported inflation will be generally benign, given continued weakness in the global economy.
