Our Singapore Committee holds first meeting to discuss future of Singapore
The 26-person committee spearheading a national conversation about Singapore's future held its first meeting last Saturday.
Education Minister Heng Swee Keat who chairs the committee said they had spent time generating ideas.
Posting on the committee's Facebook page, Mr Heng said the committee created a front-page newspaper story that would depict their hopes for Singapore in 2030.
Two headlines grabbed his attention in particular.
The first was "Singapore hosting the Olympics for Seniors".
And the other was "Bumper crop on HDB rooftop gardens".
This would see multi-generation families and neighbours coming together to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Mr Heng said the task of creating a front-page newspaper story was just one mode of generating ideas and other modes will be tried out.
Mr Heng said citizen dialogues are planned to start in early October.
