NTUC says it is important to send a clear signal to all workers
The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) says it supports the action taken by the Government regarding an illegal strike of SMRT's bus drivers.
NTUC says it is important to send a clear signal to all workers that as a nation ruled by law, there are proper ways of dealing with issues and disagreement.
It added that any action that is illegal must and will be dealt with firmly, regardless of whether the workers are local or foreign.
Workers must recognise that there are right and proper ways to air their grievances and these should be adhered to.
The labour movement's Assistant Secretary-General Cham Hui Fong emphasised the importance of keeping an open line of communication between management and their workers, especially for those who are not union members.
