SMRT holds first townhall sessions with China National drivers

The SMRT Management has held its first townhall sessions with the China national drivers.

At the session, the management addressed concerns such as the drivers' living conditions at the dormitories.

It said a large number of their drivers from China have expressed their desire to move out from the dormitories.

SMRT will be arranging alternative accommodation for them at various HDB flats and apartments located island-wide when the leases of their dormitories expire from early next year.

It has also acknowledged that the channels of communication can be improved.

Liaison officers who can speak Mandarin have been appointed to deal directly with the drivers.

It has also set up a 24 hr hotline for the drivers to call if they have concerns or feedback.

SMRT added it is in the process of reviewing the concerns raised regarding the wages of their drivers from China and that they will share their decision next week.
