More environments for community bonding
MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Ang Hin Kee, says the government should create more environments for people and families to bond.
He noted that there are many such projects already underway, like NParks' Park Connector Network.
"I hope that businesses operating in such areas can partner the community to be even more relevant to the residents. In fact, I would like to suggest that tenders for such sites can also add in elements of community projects as key considerations. This will ensure that our parks and rivers can further strengthen their roles as community integrators."
And while he was excited about the HDB's social linkway that's being tested in Tampines, he hoped it could be extended to more areas.
"My only request is for the agency to also pilot such plans in older estates like Ang Mo Kio."
Mr Ang added that government agencies should get public feedback on how to create more social integration.
Here was one of his own ideas.
"The LTA can consider the vacant space below elevated MRT tracks. Within safety considerations, we can do more to create community and recreational space."
