SPCA's Undercover Survey on Pet Shops & Farms

Between August and October this year, the SPCA sent mystery shoppers out to 49 pet shops and farms to check on their hygiene standards and knowledge of pet care and licensing requirements.

The survey showed that a majority of the establishments visited were misinforming customers on pet care or provided no information at all.  And 77 per cent of them were found flouting their pet shop licences by not assisting with dog licensing applications.

But can we expect the profit-driven pet trade to be ethical?  And what should we be on the lookout for as responsible pet purchasers and owners?

938LIVE's Shireen Abdullah speaks with Corinne Fong, Executive Director of the SPCA, to learn more.
