Viva Foundation

Symphony 92.4FM's adopted charity for 2014 is Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer.

Viva is a Singapore-based charity, founded in 2006 with the aspiration to raise the standard of medical treatment and cure for children’s cancer in Asia. It is heartbreaking that in some regions in Asia, the cure rate of childhood leukemia ranges from 5% to 55%. Viva aspires to raise the cure rate to 90%, a high benchmark set by the St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in the United States. Viva’s funds are directed towards creating better medical facilities, children’s cancer research, training and forums for the medical community.

Many other charities subsidize the children’s medical fees and offer support for their families. To avoid duplicating resources, Viva focuses its activities on raising the standard of medical care to these children so that they have a higher chance of being cured. Every child deserves the right to live a full life.

Public and private healthcare sectors are rarely able to dedicate large funds towards creating specialized medical facilities for children with cancer. Through our generous donors, in 2008, Viva established the Viva University Children’s Cancer Centre (VUC3) at Singapore’s National University Hospital. The child-friendly centre offers holistic, one-stop, cancer treatment with infection prevention rooms, stem cell transplantation suites and access to highly specialized laboratory tests. As part of a clinical trial, children treated at VUC3 achieved a cure rate of >80%.

Viva hopes to save the lives of as many children as possible. Find out how you can show your support for Viva Foundation at
