It is time to honour the best in the local Indian television industry. Vasantham will be hosting the 12th edition of its celebrated awards extravaganza, Pradhana Vizha, on Sunday 26th June 2011, 9pm at MediaCorp TV Theatre. This ostentatious affair promises to be glitzy and glamorous featuring the who's who in local Indian Media. Mr Yacob Ibrahim, Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts, will grace the event as the Guest-of-Honour.

Pradhana Vizha was first conceived in 1996 and was held under the banner of the then Prime 12 where both local Malay and Indian artistes were honoured in 1 award ceremony. Since then the growth of local Indian Television and artistes has helped cultivate Pradhana Vizha, making it a full-fledged annual awards ceremony.

Each Pradhana Vizha saw an increase in the number of categories and nominees. This year a record number of 26 awards will be given out and including awards under the Technical Category. Another highlight is the Most Popular Artiste Category. This will be the 3rd consecutive year that the category has been included and it will not be just 1 award but 2. Both male and female personalities will each have their dedicated category, 'Most Popular Male Artiste' and 'Most Popular Female Artiste.'10 artistes have been nominated under each category and SMS votes by viewers will determine the winner.
