Of all the Japanese gigs in Singapore as of late, one of the most highly anticipated shows is Namie Amuro’s upcoming solo concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 26.

The Queen of J-Pop kicked off her Asia Tour at the beginning of the year, following the successful 20th anniversary “5 Major Domes Tour” across Japan. Local fans will finally get to witness the iconic singer’s live performance skills and powerful stage presence right here in Singapore next month!

With nine chart-topping singles under her belt, including five that sold over one million copies, Namie Amuro is regarded as one of the top artistes in the Japanese music industry.

 At age 19, Namie Amuro became the youngest singer to win the "Grand Prix Award" at the annual Japan Records for her hit single, "Don't Wanna Cry," in 1996. She was also the first artiste to bring home awards four years in a row at the MTV Japan Video Music Awards between 2002 and 2005.

Not being one who rests on her laurels, Namie Amuro garnered newfound attention after reinventing herself as a hip-hop singer with her sixth album Queen of Hip-Pop in 2005. Her greatest hits album, Best Fiction, held pole position on the Oricon weekly charts for six consecutive weeks and was awarded "Best Album of the Year" in 2008. 

Even after more than a decade since her debut, Namie Amuro remains as one of the most celebrated female acts in Japan. Singapore fans will also be among the first to watch her perform her latest releases, “Big Boys Cry” and “Contrail”, at the show.
